The final London based ICE event took place last week at the ExCel before it heads to the sunnier climes of Barcelona, Spain for 2025.
I first went to ICE at Earls Court way back in 2001 - encouraged to attend by a former colleague who had started work for a betting company. This kick started a period of significant work over the years placing fantastic people all over the world and building long term friendships with a wonderful bunch of people. I remember working with the new UK team of 888.com at their offices in Thayer Street, London, flying to Vienna to the old stock exchange to meet the founders of what was then known as Bet & Win, the regular flights to Gibraltar and occasionally Cyprus.
The online gaming clients then became familiar faces along with my long term sports clients as the two sectors enjoyed mutually beneficial partnerships on the pitch and online.
So that was the last ICE here in London - the show was bigger and brighter than it was in 2001. The after show parties have become more glamorous and decadent - this year even the super yacht got in on the action. On the final day I was lucky to have bumped into a good number of old friends capping off the day with the distinct feel of an old school reunion.
